Polyvinylidene fluoride

Polyvinylidene fluoride

Among the plastic materials processed by SPN is polyvinylidene fluoride. Known as PVDF, this material has exceptional properties that make it suitable for a wide range of applications. Depending on your needs, SPN has the technical means to manufacture specific parts from polyvinylidene fluoride.

Polyvinylidene fluoride: a thermoplastic polymer with remarkable properties

Semi-crystalline in appearance, polyvinylidene fluoride is highly valued in technical sectors, including the chemical industry. It is a highly chemically inert thermoplastic polymer: its stability and chemical resistance are exceptional. If your industry requires the handling of chemical agents, we recommend polyvinylidene fluoride for the manufacture of parts that will be in contact with these chemical agents. PVDF is resistant to mineral bases, aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatics, acids, alcohols, and chlorinated and halogenated solvents. However, it is a material that remains sensitive to some highly basic solutions, such as esters and ketones.

In addition, polyvinylidene fluoride also shows its performance against UV and radiation. It is also a material with non-stick and gas-tight properties. As for its mechanical properties, PVDF has excellent resistance to aging: it resists abrasion well. Finally, all these properties of polyvinylidene fluoride remain stable at very high temperatures, up to 175°C. However, its service temperature remains appreciable: ideally from -20°C to 130°C.

Processed polyvinylidene fluoride and its many applications

The exceptional properties of polyvinylidene fluoride allow it to be used in various applications. It is a material that has many well-known trade names, such as Kynar®, Dyneon® and Solef®. Parts made of polyvinylidene fluoride are often found in the chemical and medical industries. Because of the material’s ability to withstand various types of liquid and gaseous chemical attack, SPN can supply piping and other vessels for these demanding sectors. In addition, since polyvinylidene fluoride is insulating and non-stick, we use it to manufacture protective barriers or insulation for the electronics industry.

SPN has and masters many techniques to transform polyvinylidene fluoride. Thus, we have the possibility of manufacturing different parts according to the requirements and needs of our customers. Whatever the specificity of your parts to be machined, we can manufacture them thanks to molding, extrusion or compression of polyvinylidene fluoride. To machine semi-finished products, we use turning, milling and cutting. SPN is equipped with high-performance digital equipment to guarantee the realization of your customized parts. This allows us to respect your specifications. We produce complex and specific custom polyvinylidene fluoride parts.

If you think that the properties of polyvinylidene fluoride can meet your expectations, we remain at your disposal to discuss your project. You can contact SPN using the online contact form.
