Information on the PTFE molding at SPN

For the manufacture of PTFE blanks, SPN produces compression molding blanks and then heat the parts at temperature to offer semi-finished products (tubes, plates, bars) with high quality requirements. PTFE tubes are widely used to reduce material consumption for the manufacture of gaskets, seals, o-rings, etc.

Because it offers excellent resistance to a wide variety of chemicals, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is highly appreciated in the chemical, microelectronics or semiconductor sectors. It is also used in certain processes such as when rinsing technical installations or dosing chemicals used for cleaning equipment in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Natural or filled PTFE offers low friction, good moisture resistance, UV insensitivity, temperature range resistance, flammability and is non-toxic.

SPN works with different PTFE grades according to customer requirements. For example:

– PTFE compounded with glass fibre, for its very high resistance to chemical attack and wear.

– PTFE compounded with Graphite, which offers a very low coefficient of friction and excellent resistance to compression and wear (allowing it to be used in high speed conditions and in contact with medium-hard surfaces).

– PTFE compounded with Carbon, used for its remarkable thermal conductivity and resistance to deformation.

– PTFE compounded with Bronze for its excellent compressive strength with high thermal conductivity and high wear resistance.

SPN specializes in the manufacture of compounded PTFE according to customer specifications. These specification requests are particularly used in the aerospace industry. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
